Cheese is universally loved–even by people who shouldn’t be eating it (whoops). It feigns elegance 🎩 yet can be the simplest of meals 🪢 (or, even, girl dinner 🎀) and yet there’s nothing quite like the excitement having a nice cheeseboard spread at a party, or even home alone.
All cheeseboards have elements that make them great, and everyone builds them a little bit differently. There’s no wrong way to build a cheeseboard unless it’s someone else’s cheeseboard. Some have elegant spreads, across long counters with endless combination options, others are a simple cutting board or it can serve as more of a snack.
Cheeseboards always have a few key ingredients people always stick to when creating them–be it your go to cheese or something that always compliments the cheeses well. 🍇Accents✨ if you will. These 🍇accents✨ create the perfect atmosphere for the cheese to shine—no matter how you combine them they always create a perfect harmony and leave you looking like well… 🐭🧀
All this cheesiness to say: your brand is like a cheeseboard. 😉
You’ll always have main elements you return to that make yours unique to you–there’s no wrong way to build a brand unless it’s someone else’s brand. 🧰
🏄 🛹 🏂 However you board, there’s a particularity to it.
When you’re building your board (i.e. brand’s social media), think of the core elements. 🧱 What you’ll use will generally be the same, but you might update based on new flavors you try or experiment with a new ingredient here or there. However your board or the cheeses at the base will stay the same–you’ll have your favorite sharp cheddar (brand colors) or blueberry goat cheese (brand tone) no matter what else is there!
When posting on your social media you should be combining “ingredients” like you would with ingredients on a cheeseboard. Experimenting and seeing what accents go well together, and even more importantly—which accents do not go together. 🍇✨
You’ll combine the accents 🍇✨—photos, captions, tone, etc—to create a holistic brand that has its own unique flavor.
🪤 How does this cheese apply to my brand?
You’ll see quickly how layering your brand’s social media 🤳 with a trend 🪩 and adding a promo 🏷 can be a lot like a mix of ingredients 🍲.
Cracker base, choice of cheese (or maybe cheeses??) and then perhaps a jam or a jelly—maybe a fruit or a vegetable? 🧺 While your brand’s board won’t be literal food, you can start to see how breaking apart the elements and seeing them as ingredients can define things for your brand.
The board is unique to your brand and that’s the point.
❎ When you build your brand, know it’s not for everyone–and that’s okay!
Next time you’re struggling with what to post on social media think about whether or not the right ingredients are on the board to properly represent your brand with every bite! If your brand isn’t properly represented, consider rebuilding your board. Starting over usually just leads to something tastier—and experimenting does the same.
Don’t be afraid to combine things you wouldn’t normally combine, or really put some flavor on top of a post. Your brand should be unique, memorable and leave a taste in the customer’s memory. Just like Remy and Drew and everyone taking risks to find the best flavors, don’t forget to mix up your ingredients, experiment and overall—make something delicious.
