You have this SUPER cool original idea for your brand’s social media–but everyone is a little to shy for you to really blow up the idea. It can seem like creating original content for your audience is IMPOSSIBLE but maybe you’re just missing a small element. 🤔
Consider the videos you find most relatable… they probably have elements of surprise(!), originality AND familiarity. Whether that’s a familiar or trending audio track or having similar form on every video so the audience knows what to expect there are so many ways you can add a touch of familiarity. This can your ideas and boost them for your brand.
3 Tips to Add a Touch of Familiarity without Ditching your Brand’s Uniqueness 📝
💭 Explain what the norm is and why your brand is different
Discussing a process: go through, consider saying “normally people do this but I do this”. Giving them your voice, letting them in the know of what’s normal and why you’re out of the box idea is cool gives them a thru-line to hold onto from start to end. They’re wondering “if that’s what people normally do why do you do it differently?” so answer that question too
Discussing a product: What is your differentiator?? highlighting your differentiator against the familiar elements, or even as solves to familiar problems, can be a great entry point. Think Dyson–they solved many issues with the vacuum (cords, weight, sound, etc.) but at the end of the day, it’s a vacuum.
📹 Keep a similar form for all your videos
Let your viewers expect something they know: shoot the same shots on different processes, or same location with different angles. Maybe you create something and always show the same parts of the process (ex; start, finish, installed), or maybe you teach something and you always do a voiceover that teaches people while the screen shows.
Create familiarity through experience: within your audience create an experience, not just a sales page. Having daily or weekly discussions with someone in person would keep them coming back, so do the same with social media. Customers will know when they come back, generally what to expect–and the details of your video not only stand out from the familiar, but become added surprise brilliance that gives your brand something unique.
📱 Always Post on the Same Platform
Go Where You’re Celebrated: if you’re just starting out, or just started prioritizing strategy, it can be easy to let the amount of channels you’re on become…well as many as you can.. and while that’s great for big companies that have whole social media teams, if you’re a small business owner this is less do-able than it seems. Try sticking to one main platform and growing your audience, once you have that audience, consider strategically adding similar platforms. For instance if you have a lot of popular Reels consider going on TikTok as well.
Choose, Use, Never Lose: if you’ve already started out and are spreading yourself thin over multiple platforms…CHOOSE! Choose your platform. Use your platform. Never lose your audience. Even if the platform goes to the Social Media Graveyard (RIP Vine 🥲) you’ll have a chance to convert your audience to a new platform which will probably be more relevant at that time. So don’t be afraid to commit to the bit and show up every day so that people know where they can find you.

To thank you for being our VIPs here are a few extra tips, just for you:
🤫 Less is more:
concentrate on growing one platform at a time and choose quality posts over quantity of posts, if your regular posts are once a week–stick to it and people will still show up. the more you post the faster the growth, but the more consistent you are with posting the more consistent the growth. 😉
🪵 Engrain familiarity into your social media strategy:
don’t leave yourself hanging on content creation days–give yourself regular series and topics to come back to so that familiarity is first and foremost in your brand’s social media. be intentional about what you share and how often you share it.
🤩 Engage with people:
in their feed, message inbox AND their comments. Why would people engage with you when you aren’t engaging with them?? Start engaging with a few clients before and after posts and watch your engagement rise.
