Delightfully Unhinged: How to know if unhinged content is right for your brand 🤪😊

How unhinged is your brand?! 🤪 In 2023, having an unhinged brand image isn’t always a downfall but can sometimes push a brand to the top. How can a brand know if this strategy is right for them?? Keep reading for some tips, tricks and a basic brand formula for creating content.
🌀 Not every brand can be unhinged and informal
While there are some brands that can pull off unhinged content, they are few and far between even though they get a lot of press. How did they pull it off?
The content matches their brand, which means they can choose to participate in or create ludicrous trends when they’re relevant, but it’s not the only content type they have to choose from.
Your brand’s content should first and foremost look like your brand and sound like your brand. Once you’ve done that, then you can decide which trends fit the voice, values and tone of your brand.
Take advantage of trending audio, or hop on a dance trend (there is really one for everyone…). Whatever it is, the trend should fit the brand without having to explain it or be adjusted so that it no longer looks like the trend.

Look for ~versatile~ trends.
Many influencers who never typically participate in viral trends filmed the “Wes Anderson” trend that was happening on Instagram and TikTok. The AWA trend was one that lent itself to more aesthetic based influencers, but also fit the GRWM, funny influencers and day-in-the-life vloggers as well.
"unhinged content" isn't a strategy–it goes with a certain type of brand!!
Every trend is not for every brand but every brand can find a trend if they want to. If you’re wondering if a trend is for your brand–try out this simple brand math we came up with:
BRAND = CONTENT +/- TRENDS
🔑 The BRAND is the key to CONTENT, not the other way around 🔑
The trends can come and go, but your content should still be there and it should all clearly point to your brand.
