The Market You're Missing: Zillennials 🫠
a note to the modern marketer on how Zillennials can be the missing puzzle piece to your audience puzzle 🧩
Millennial and Gen Z generations can be a wide net to deal within 🎣 so how can you figure out how aim and target audiences for your product? Spanning 40 years gives room for differences in not only interests but also in language, in things the person needs and wants, and so on and so forth.

Consider zooming in on your audience further and including the missing link: Zillennials. “"Zillennial" is a micro-generation, encompassing just 10 years. Urban Dictionary defines group members as ‘Too young to be a Millennial, but too old to be a Gen Z'er.’” This generation can help you divide your audiences into more digest-able bits so that you can more easily figure out how to market to your customers.
Born between 1990 and 2000 (or 1992-2002 depending on who you ask), Zillennials sit as the most transitional generation. Sandwiched between the 80s Millennials and Y2K Gen-Z, making Zillennials tech savvy like Gen-Z—old enough to remember landline phones and when email was brand new but young enough to be appreciating tf out of GUTS (remembering the sound came from Alanis, Britney, Miley, Xtina, etc).
Being a Zillennial is a coin flip. Not quite fitting in with the generations before them and maybe a little too cringe for the generation after them–leaving them feeling like everything is available to them but nothing is truly for them. With Zillennials projected to be “40% of future consumers” it’s important to consider this forgotten generation.

How can I target Zillennials?
🫂 Make them feel included
Researching popular opinions, wants, needs and trends of this generation can help you to fine-tune your product to make Zillennials feel like what you’re making was made for them.
👂 Show them you understand what a Zillennial is all about
Eternally evolving: a generation in permanent identity crisis needs options and wants to be made to feel original–no matter how many times they change their mind.
🌟 Help them be the main character
As you can imagine, being stuck between 2 dueling generations, they’ve never felt much room to be themselves. Give Zillennials a place of solace to be themselves and live up their main character vibes you’ll forever have their loyalty.
Targeting Zillennials can seem daunting but it’s truly about wanting to feel included and finding their identity (or the newest one). Zillenials could be your next target audience–do don’t forget them.
