Good captions, no notes–that can be hard. 😅😬
Not only do you need to capture the attention of your audience, but in some cases bring them all the way through a purchasing journey. While that sounds easy, actually doing it can be…hazy at best…leaving you with questions and randomly successful posts. 😬
Getting and keeping the attention of your audience when they’re constantly bombarded by brands, maybe even with similar products, can be one of your biggest challenges, but also your biggest differentiators if you know your audience. That’s why it’s important to be positively memorable as a brand on social media. 🤩
The formula for social media captions that connect with people = 💡 Interest + 🪤 Engagement + 🤝 CTA (with NO notes!)
💡 Interest
Remember: interest gains attention.
Creating interest can be as simple anything that makes your audience say, “hm, that’s interesting” so people stop scrolling. 📱
You know, like asking a relatable question? It makes your audience feel seen and valued, and keeps them reading. 👀
Drop some crazy facts or stats–nothing grabs attention like a "Did you know?". 🤯
And jokes? They're not just for laughs! They give your brand the human touch, making your brand a friend in a crowd of companies. 🤪
🪤 Engagement
Remember: engagement keeps attention.
Once they’re on interested, keep them that way by gaining people’s full attention.
Fostering engagement can range from sharing information to best-loved products, but you have to know your audience.
Some will be interested little known fact about your industry, others an exciting giveaway of your most popular product! 😎 By engaging your audience you are showing them that you understand them, and that you are part of the community–not just selling to the community.
That’s when people feel comfortable enough for a ….. 👇
🤝 CTA
Remember: CTAs make customers.
Call to Action, aka CTA!
CTAs are the most important sentences in sales because they guide users towards engaging or converting. It’s your opportunity for users to take a specific action (like purchasing, registering or entering a giveaway–aka engaging with the post).
If you just have a CTA your brand will seem overly sale-sy, which no one likes—that’s why you want to stack interest and engagement before your CTA.
Your CTA shouldn’t be generic but is okay to be reused. It should give an overview of the services and products you’re offering in the earlier sections of the post (aka the interest and engagement areas).
