Creating Better Collaborations for Creative Projects π¨
Lose the confusion in creative collaboration with these 2 things!! π₯
TLDR: when it comes to working on creative projects no matter whether youβre the client or the creative, be realistic, honest & communicate, communicate, communicate.
We heard you were looking for a smooth process for your creative collaborations, one-offs, and other brand projects? We put together some different criteria to check off with your creative team when starting a projectβbased on the effort level of the task, of course. πββοΈ From freelance projects to hiring a new designer, these 2 areas can help you and your creative team be on the same page from project 1 to project 1000. π
ποΈ Communicate, communicate, communicate! From the very beginning of the project. Start with these aspects of your project to create clear communication during your project:
π Easy: Talk about what youβre struggling with
You obviously decided not to create this project yourself for a particular reason. Whether thatβs time, skill, or something else let your creative collaborators know so that they can help overcome struggles, and create the perfect outcome for the project.
π Medium: Talk about what you like, and what you donβt like
If you start out with a specific design, image, vision, etc in mind say that in the first meeting so that the whole group knows the vibe youβre looking for.
β€οΈ Hard: Do some research so that you can ask questions and clarify anything youβre unsure about.
You may have to research the right terminology, or examples, but your hard work will pay off when your project is better than you couldβve imagined. You donβt have to be an expert, but coming in with some knowledge can only help speed things along and create a clearer picture of the end product for both sides. It can also help you find a better fit for a creative partner early on in the process!
Pro-tip: research how much time your project averagely takes so that you know when to get started with your designer.

ποΈ Advanced scheduling is key. Be sure to review these aspects early on to make sure scheduling goes smoothly from the start:
π Easy: Be honest about the timeline you need (or can provide).
When youβre starting the project be sure to be clear about what your expectations are for the timeline. Discuss right up front and know if itβs realistic or not (see level red), and if this is the right fit for what you need.
π Medium: Set up meeting dates in advance so that you know when to expect each part of the process.
If your ideas on timelines align, set up meeting and review dates in advance, so that everyone knows when and what to expect from the beginning of the project all the way until the end.
β€οΈ Hard: Be realistic about the timeline and the amount of work you need done.
Honest and realistic are two tooootally different things. If ASAP is the timeline, set it up from the beginning with the expectation that everyone will meet certain deadlines so that the timeline can proceed as requested. Create a realistic timeline, otherwise everyone will just be disappointed and frustrated.
