LinkedIn can be intimidating with its posts about work anniversaries and promotions, but it’s not impossible to use your LinkedIn page to stand out against the crowd. Here are some tips from a social media manager on how to stand out on LinkedIn:
📑 Documents
Utilize new tools like PDF upload in order to catch the algorithm, and the users’, attention. From my experience, people will look through a document way more than they will scroll through pictures. IMO it’s because the user doesn’t have to click into a new window to neatly view everything.
🚰 Water Cooler Humor
LinkedIn is getting a little more relaxed. Instead of wearing slacks it’s wearing jeans and a button up. Don’t be afraid to be a little funny, make a joke, use a gif. Just like in an office environment, a little funny can go a long way to make you memorable and improve someone’s day.
⏰ Take a Break
If your posts aren’t getting any traction, take a break and review which posts are most popular. When y start posting again, base your content around those MOST popular posts.
👋 Employee Activity
Even if it’s just you, or 1 other employee have your team linked to your page. When you post content let them know to interact with it (if they’re okay with that, and active). That way you can get an instant boost of interaction, and help guide your content toward the right connections.
🔑 Keywords
Be sure to include industry keywords in your posts. This makes it more likely your post will pop up on followers timelines. Choose words that are popular, and do research to find your most popular keywords. Successful SEO isn't just about text anymore – you need to include your visuals. When naming your images, include keywords for search engines.
⏲️ Post Often
LinkedIn users aren’t afraid to post at least once a day. Whether that’s a portfolio pitch, a product plug or breaking industry news, you won’t ever be posting too much (unless you’re posting like 20x a day—that’s too much). Post about accomplishments, projects, and make sure to interact with your connections.
